For land surveyors and civil engineers
Every project starts with a week nobody bills for. We took that week apart.
CivitasOPS is Windows software for survey and civil firms. It does the reading, the checking and the arithmetic that stand between a signed contract and the first billable hour — on the computer in front of you. Your clients' documents never reach us. There is no upload step to opt out of, because there is no upload step.
Windows 10 and 11 No graphics card needed Keeps working with no signal
You already know the week we mean
The pile of work a client never thinks they are paying for.
It lands on your most expensive person
It takes judgement, so it goes to whoever has the most of it — the person you had other plans for this week, doing work that cannot be handed to anyone junior.
It is slow in a way nobody can invoice
Careful reading, careful checking, and arithmetic that has to be right — priced into a fee that quietly assumed it would go faster than it ever does.
And when it goes wrong, it is silent
A mistake made in this week does not announce itself. It turns up later, in front of a client or a court, and costs a multiple of what the week did.
We took that week apart. What we put in its place is worth half an hour on a project you have already worked — not a page a competitor can read over your shoulder.
What we will tell you in public
Three promises a firm can hold us to. The rest we would rather show you.
They stay yours
Everything is read on the computer in front of you. No upload, no drop box in the middle of your workflow, no copy of a client's document on a server of ours. It is the constraint the product was designed around, not a setting somebody has to go and find.
Nothing new to buy
It runs on the laptops your crews already carry. No server to stand up, no graphics card, and no charge per page, per project or per acre.
It works where you work
Set a machine up once, with a connection. After that it goes on working at a section corner with no bars, all day.
How a job goes
Three steps, and none of them is “wait for the upload”.
Bring the file
Drop it in, or point at the folder your field software already writes to. It is read where it sits.
Check the work
Every number is computed rather than guessed, and every finding points back at the page it came from — so a licensed professional can sign it with a straight face.
Hand it over
Export it, print it, send it. The project stays on your machine unless you decide to share it with the firm.
We do not want your clients' documents. The product is built so that we never receive them — not as an upload, not as a hosted index, not as a copy on a server of ours. That is the whole pitch, and everything else is downstream of it.
From the blog
All posts →A licence that works with no signal
Field crews work where there is no connection. Licensing is the part everyone expects to be strict about that, and ours is not.
The worst kind of wrong
An answer with one thing missing looks exactly like a complete one. That is the failure we spend most of our care on.
Why your documents stay on your machine
The papers a survey job runs on name people, describe exactly where they live, and often carry a signature and a seal. We built the product around never receiving one.
See it on a parcel you already know
Bring one you have worked and can argue with. Half an hour, no slides, and you keep the output.
